Announcement of the Mega Event: EOB 2022

Rules of the Competition

The modality for the English Olympiad Bangladesh 2022

Students of class 9 to 10 (as well as “O” level) and class 11 to 12 (as well as “A” level) can participate in the competition. Participants will have to pay ৳ 100 for completing registration. Selection round will be on online platform.

  • Participants from class 9 to 10 (or “O” level) are in Junior Category.
  • Participants from class 11 to 12 (or “A” level) are in Senior Category.
  • Pay ৳ 100 for registration confirmation and take part in the Selection Round.
  • Students must attach a recent passport size photograph wearing school / college uniform during registration.
  • Pay registration fees through bKash numbers (01707938106 or 01951152076 or 01817524745).
  • Access through Computer or Mobile Phone with active internet connection.
  • Any eligible candidate can take part in this round for a single 60 minute test at any time between June 25, 2022 - July 31, 2022 (5:00 PM) from anywhere in the country.
  • There will be 60 multiple choice questions (MCQs) with four options for each.
  • Total time is 60 minutes.
  • Marks will vary depending on the time of submission.
  • Top 40% participants from each category will be selected for the Theater Round.
  • General Knowledge in English Literature: Books & Authors, Important Characters in literature, Birth & death of renowned authors, Nobel laureate authors, Bengali authors writing English etc.
  • Grammar: Synonyms, Antonyms, Word order, Nouns, Verbs, Adverbs, Adjectives, Articles, Prepositions, Conjunctions, Punctuations, Voices, Narration, Question forms, Tenses, Conditionals, Modals, Collocations, Phrasal verbs, Idioms, Words related to weather, Countries, Language and people, Global problems, social cause, Travel, Workplace, etc.
  • Mechanics: Spelling, Punctuations, Capitalization etc.
  • Qualified candidates can take part in this round.
  • The test will be on Reading and Writing Skills.
  • Top 15 participants from each category will be selected for the Final Round.
  • Reading: Search for and retrieve information from various text types like articles, news, flyers, Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, stories, reports, etc. Understand information presented in instruction manual format, Message format, e-mail format and others. Acquire a broad understanding of and look for specific information in longer texts like editorials, essays etc. You will need to read English texts following various question types that need to be answered.
  • Writing: Creative Writing-Developing themes and producing short paragraphs, essays, stories etc. Social Writing- letters of invitations, condolence, thanks, congratulations, writing notes etc. Situational writing- writing posters, notices, slogans, memos, advertisements etc.
  • Qualified candidates can take part in this round.
  • The test will be on Extempore Speech, and facing the Jury.
  • Time: 5 Minutes for Extempore Speech and 5 minutes for Facing the Jury.
  • Speaking: Spoken expression includes the ability to understand situation-based variations in functions like giving advice, stating preferences, discussing probability, making an offer, etc. Describing Pictures, Picture Differences, Solving a Problem, Role-play, Set Speech, Extempore & Story Telling.

4 persons from each category: 3,000 BDT and certificates .

ALL THE PARTICIPANTS COMPLETING THE SELECTION ROUND WILL GET CERTIFICATES.

  • Registration opens: 6th April 2022.
  • Registration Closes June 20, 2022.
  • Briefing about EOB 22 (Junior Category): June 22, 2022 4:00 pm-4:45 pm.
  • Briefing about EOB 22 (Senior Category): June 22, 2022 5:00 pm-5:45 pm.
  • Selection Round: June 25-July 15, 2022 (Online).
  • Publication of Results of Selection Round: July 30, 2022.
  • Theatre and Final Round: October 7 2022.
  • Announcement of Results and Prize Giving: October 7 2022.
